Carrollton
Carrollton is situated on Interstate Highway 35 East,
approximately fourteen miles north of downtown Dallas, Denton,
and Collin counties.
In the early stages of its existence, Carrollton
was an exclusively agricultural community. Local establishments
consisted of only schools, gins, and churches. There are many
high quality apartments in Carrollton. It was not until the
Sun Belt boom, especially as it affected the Dallas area, that
Carrollton began to grow rapidly. In 1983, when the population
was 52,000, the major area industries had expanded to include
auto-parts distribution, food packing, light manufacturing, and
manufacturing of computers, semiconductors, and electronic components.
Carrollton has a healthy
mix of 1 bedroom apartments, 2 bedroom apartments, and 3 bedroom
apartments. Throughout the urbanization of the town, Carrollton
strived to retain a remnant of its frontier living essence, and
still sported a working cattle ranch within its city limits.
By 1990 the population of Carrollton was an estimated 82,169,
and in 2000 it had surmounted to 109,576.
Carrollton has loft
apartments, townhouse style apartments, and apartments with
hardwood or concrete flooring. Its business opportunities, family environment,
and hometown atmosphere earned the city of Carrollton a place on “ America's
2006 Top 100 Places to Live” list in 2006 by Relocate America.
Carrollton is also know for being the home to Robert Matthew Van
Winkle, also known as Vanilla Ice.
