The city of Rowlett, Texas was founded in 1952 and is an upscale community where many of its workers commute to nearby Dallas and Fort Worth.  The completion of Lake Ray Hubbard in 1971 made Rowlett a lakefront community and growth became inevitable.

Both school districts have exemplary-rated campuses; and both districts routinely achieve above state average scores on statewide standardized achievement tests. In addition, ACT and SAT scores in both districts are consistently above national averages.
